Day 4 Beds County 2025

Day four yielded two more County Titles, seven Gold, four Silver and three Bronze Age Group Medals and numerous more personal best times, including two Club records.

Seven of the Club’s squad had qualified for the Girls HDW 400m Freestyle event. It saw Lauren Tough win her first individual County medal – a bronze – (in her 15 years’ age group). Kaylyn Sampong emulated the 3rd placing in the 14 years’ age group, with Lucia Day 5th. Lauren and Kaylyn then finished 7th and 8th in their respective 100m Freestyle finals, with Lucia just missing that final by 0.3 seconds. Gina Collinson touched 7th in the 14 years’ 100m Breaststroke final, where Kaylyn finished 12th in the heats.

Lauren: Bronze 15 Years’ 400m Freestyle

The 10/11 years 100m Freestyle final produced a rare occurrence.

Lucy & Ruth Biscoe: A rare County championships occurrence

The gold and silver went to sisters, with Ruth Biscoe beating her younger sibling, Lucy. Emma Battersby and Sophie Lapucha both missed out on that final, finishing 9th and 10th, with Dorothy Gooda just behind in 14th. Sophie Lapucha was an unlucky 4th in her 100m Breaststroke final as was Ruth Biscoe in her 400m Freestyle. In the same age group’s 100m Breaststroke heats Freya Strange was 10th and Lucy Biscoe 19th fastest.

Alice Buckingham

Continuing to dominate her 12 years age group, Alice Buckingham won a further three gold medals (100m & 400m Freestyle and 100m Breaststroke). The latter event, in which Alice broke the Club’s age group record, saw four of the eight finalists come from Team Luton. Ella Kolobius won the silver with Mary Battersby 4th and Zuzanna Walaszek 8th.  Ella  also came 8th in the 100m Freestyle final with Zuzanna placed 10th , Inaaya Sampong 16th and Mary Battersby 18th in the heats.

Ella Kolobius: Silver 12 Years’ 100m Breaststroke

In the 13-year-old Girls’ events Olivia Piaskowsa was 5th (100m Freestyle, 7th (400m Freestyle) and 12th (100m Breaststroke ) with Katie Biscoe coming 8th in the 100m Breaststroke final.

Maxim Collinson

The HDW Boys 200m Breaststroke saw Maxim Collinson claim his second Gold in the 13 years’ age group whilst both Leon Stark and Owain Robers came 4th in their 10/11 years and 16-year age groups. Leon just missed the bronze by 0.27 seconds. Elliot Bown and George Rhodes were both placed 6th in their 14 and 15-year age groups.

Ethan Huntley

In the 14 year Boys events, Ethan Huntley had to settle for the runner up positions once more, claiming silver for his 50m Backstroke and 50m Butterfly  whilst being 4th fastest in his 200m Backstroke. In the backstroke Adam Hanif and Jaden Hamusa finished 23rd and 27th in their 10/11 year age group.

Maxim Collinson added to his medals with a Bronze in the 50m Butterly final, an event which saw George and Owain placed 15th and 11th from the heats in their respective age groups.

Twenty Six year old Matt Wright won two Senior County titles (and the 17 years and over age group medals) in the 50m Backstroke and 50m Butterfly. His backstroke time was a lifetime Long Course best time but just an agonising 0.05 seconds outside the County record set in 2019.

Our Mixed 10/11 200m Freestyle Team (Ruth Biscoe, Sophie Lapucha, Leona Stark and Jaiden Amusa) came fifth, less than a second away from the Bronze medal. The 12/13 years team (Olivia Piasowska, Maxim Collinson, Tymoteusz Sikorski & Alice Buckingham) were also placed fifth. The 14/15 Years’ team (Ethan Huntley, George Rhodes, Lauren Tough and Kaylyn Sampong) finished one place better.
