Two Bronze For Karen at GB Masters
Congratulations to Karen MacKenzie who won bronze medals in both her 200m and 400m Individual Medley swims at the GB Masters held in Swansea.
Competitive Returns Yield Club Masters Records and PBTs
Our Masters produced a number of season or lifetime personal best times on a day which saw a total of five new Club Masters records established or beaten. Read here for details of the achievements at the Newmarket Masters and Derbyshire Masters meets.
Four Masters Club Records In One Day for Sam Bradley
Five new Club Masters Records were established at the annual Bracknell meet, four of which fell to Sam Bradley, whilst six of the nine medals won in eleven races by the trio representing Team Luton came from Backstroke events. Read the full report here.
Counties Conclude: Over 100 Medals and 200 top 8 Placings
The final day of the 2024 County Championships brought our cumulative total for the 2024 campaign to 61 gold, 25 silver and 20 bronze medals, with over 200 top 8 placings.
Points based on individual times across the whole spectrum of swim events generated the British Age Group Awards given at the conclusion of the championships. Further congratulations are therefore due to Alice and Tommy on winning the Girls 11 years’ and Boys 13 years’ categories, Ruth, 2nd in the 10 year girls with Emily and George both third in the 14 year age group.
The day was not just about individual medal winners. More personal best times, finals reached and the last of the team events. Read here for a detailed report on Day 6.
Best Day (So Far, Arguably) At Counties
With twenty-four more age group medals and a further nine County Senior or Junior top three placings, Day 5 was arguably our best performance so far in the 2024 championships. Alice Buckingham and Matt Wright both won three more individual events. It was also the time for others to experience Championship competition for the first time as the relays once again saw medals won and lost by the narrowest of margins.

More Medals on Day 4 of County Championships
A further 20 age group medals were won on the fourth day of racing at the 2024 Beds County Championships as Lexie Sandiford, Oliver Fenwick, Emmanuel Kolobius, Talia Staines and Matt Wright once again also picked up Junior or Senior County medals. Read here for a detailed report.
County & Club Records Broken on Day 3 of 2024 County Championships
14 Gold, 9 Silver and 5 Bronze medals were won on Day 4 of the County championships with personal best times too numerous to mention. Read here for a catch – up/ reminder of the Club’s successes.
Five 800m Golds At Beds Championships
Both Nicole Cashin and Talia Staines completed the “Distance Double” winning their respective 14 years and 17 years & over age group’s 800m freestyle on Day 2 of the 2024 County Championships, having won their 1500m races the previous weekend.
Swimming the event long course for the first time, Lucia Day finished 4th in the 13 years age group for Girls whilst Jack Canham was awarded the bronze medal in the Boys event.
George Saunders knocked almost 25 seconds off his long course best time to win the 14 year Boys race. Oliver Fenwick reduced his personal best by a similar margin to win the 15 year age group, with Emmanuel Kolobius and Owain Roberts finishing sixth and seventh respectively.
Matt Wright won the 17 years & over 800m, also collecting the Senior Boys championship title whilst Talia’s and Oliver’s times gave them the Senior Girls and Junior Boys silver medals respectively.
Never Too Old To Swim Faster
Karen MacKenzie, Michelle Neal and Sam Bradley all swam personal Masters lifetime best times at the South East Long Course Master, setting three Beds County and four Club records in the process. Read here for full report.
