All nine of our Masters squad who competed at the 35th Barnet Masters Distance Meet had their names added to the Beds County Masters Records with a total of five individual and four relay records being claimed. For both Rachael Donlan and Tom Burns that was their first County Masters Record recognition.
Achieving relay records was one of two principal challenges set before the Meet; the other was racing a 200m Butterfly for the first time. Read here to find who was “brave’ enough to take it on!
Friday 13th proved to be far from being an unlucky day for our Masters down in London at the British Masters championships. By the end of the Meet three days later, the six swimmers had brought home two gold, five silver and two bronze medals with three East Region, ten County and thirteen Club records to their name. Our Masters are prepared to travel, be it North, South, East & West, in search of Club & County Records. Mark Lewis was even prepared to go the extra few miles. After competing with Sam Bradley at the London Aquatics Centre he left early to fly across the Irish Sea in his quest.
Eight of our youngsters competed in the 2025 East Region Age Group championships held over various weekends, both in Norwich and in Luton.
With ten medals and ten personal best times from eleven events, Alice Buckingham won the 11/12 Year Girls’ Top Swimmer Award.

No fewer than four County and thirteen Club records were established or beaten in two Long Course meets during the month as some of our squad tested themselves over new events.

All of the swimmers were pleased they went the extra distance – be it Derby or Swansea!
Seven of our Masters tested their early season sprinting ability at the inaugural Hemel Hempstead Meet with some narrow margins determining the colour of the medals won.

Two more County Titles, seven Gold, four Silver and three Bronze Age Group Medals and numerous personal best times were secured on the fourth day of the 2025 Beds County championships.
Both our 10/11 years’ and 12/13 years’ Girls relay teams won gold medals on the third day of the 2025 Beds. County Championships.
