Over four days of racing, Alice Buckingham won 6 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medal at the East Region championships, setting personal best times in all but one of her eleven events. She proceeded to win the top swimmer award for the Girls 11/12 years age group.

Alice’s first gold came with her time of 19:54.75, breaking the Club’s Age Group record by 5.75 seconds. Her winning times of 2:41.21and 5:36.97 in the 200m and 400m IMs broke the previous Club Age Group records by 0.34 and 12.72 seconds. Alice was pipped by just 0.02 seconds for the 50m Breaststroke title; a similar margin eluded Alice from breaking her personal best time from January in her victorious 800m Freestyle.
Qualifying in 7th place from the heats with a time of 1:15.43, Violet Rhodes returned later the same day to touch 5th in her final of the 13 years’ 100m Butterfly. Her final time of 1:14.87 represented a total improvement of over 1.5 seconds on her previous best long course time which she had only set back in March.
Eleven year old Ruth Biscoe was placed 18th in the 11/12 years’ 200m Butterfly whilst Mary Battersby was 30th fastest in the 11/12 years’ 50m Backstroke.
Olivia Piaskowska was placed 18th in the 13 Years’ 100m Freestyle.
Ethan Huntley competed in three events with his best placings being 14th in the 14 years’ 200m Butterfly and 15th in his 50m Backstroke. Competing in his first ever long course 50m Breaststroke, Max Petravich’s time saw him placed 27th in the 11/12 years’ age group.
