Beds County Championships 2025

Thirty seven of our members competed in the 2025 Championships which yielded no fewer than 7 Senior County titles, 2 Junior County Medals and 32 Gold, 17 Silver and 15 Bronze Age group medals as well as 5 new Club records. For some it was their first long course (50m) competition and numerous personal best times were recorded, testament to the sterling work given by all of our coaches and poolside helpers.

Day 1 Session 1
The start of the 2025 Beds County championships saw the trio of Alice Buckingham, Jack Canham and Owain Roberts all win 1500m Freestyle medals, each smashing their previous best times for the long course event by 44, 53 and 23 seconds respectively.

Alice Buckingham won the Girls’ 12 years event in a time of 20:11.51. That time established a Team Luton Club record for an eleven year old and also earned her the County’s Junior Girls Bronze medal.

Jack Canham won the Boys 14 years’ title in a time of 20:06.90 while Owain Roberts claimed a silver medal in the 16 years’ age group with his time of 19:33.72.

Day 2 Session 2 

Four of the squad showed their endurance prowess competing in their 800m Freestyle age group events.

Alice collected her second Junior County bronze medal with her age group winning and club record time of 10:26.66.

Both Jack and Owain picked up bronze medals with Lucia Day finishing 4th in her 14 years’ age group.

Day 3  Sessions 3 & 4

Thirty four took the plunge on the third day of the championships which was crowned  by both our 10/11 years and 12/13 years Girls Medley teams winning their relay events.

Day 4 – Sessions 5 & 6

Two more County titles, 7 Gold, 4 Silver, 3 Bronze and two Club Age Group records were secured, alongside numerous personal best times on Day 4.

Day 5 – Sessions 7 & 8

Another two Senior County titles and some first-time individual medal winners were among the further 15 individual age group medals won on Day 5.

Day 6 – Sessions 9 & 10

Club members were out in force for the sixth and final day. For some it was their very first County swim, first final or first medal. For the Club’s coaches, team managers and supporters the relays didn’t fail to produce some particularly nail – biting finishes.
