Thirty-four Club members participated on the sixth and final day of the 2025 County championships. For some it was their very first County swim, first final or medal. For the Club’s coaches, team managers and supporters the relays didn’t fail to produce some particularly nail biting finishes.

Completing a clean sweep his 13 years’ Breaststroke events, Maxim Collinson pick up his third gold medal in the 100m final. That event saw Leonn Stark claim the 10/ 11 years’ bronze medal with Maximillian Petravich 6th and Daniel Guimaraes 8th in the 12 years’ final. Tymoteusz Sikorski was ranked 12th amongst the 13-year-olds in the heats.
In their respective age group’s 100m Freestyle, Daniel Guimaraes finished 7th in his final, with Leonn 10th and Maximillian 13th. Tyler Lavender was 20th fastest amongst the 12-year-olds. Ethan Huntley claimed his fifth silver medal of the championships in the 14 years’ final. Arnold Canares was 6th in the 16 years’ final with Matt Wright winning the 17 years and over final, together with the Senior County title – his seventh.
The HDW 400m Freestyle saw Ethan Huntley pick up his third individual bronze medal, finishing one place ahead of Jack Canham by just 0.62 seconds. Owain Roberts was similarly 4th in the 16 years’ rankings. Owain went on to finish 6th in his 100m Breaststroke final, Elliot 7th in the 14 years and George Rhodes 8th in the 15 years, with Arnold Canares 11th from his heat swim.
Ethan and George joined forces with Lauren Tough and Kaylyn Sampong to claim 6th place in the Mixed 14/15 years’ 4 x 50m Medley relay.
In her 15 years’ individual races Lauren was ranked 11th in her 50m Freestyle and 15th in both the 50m and 200m Backstroke.
Keeping it in the family, Gina Collinson claimed a bronze medal for her 14 years’ 200m Breaststroke. Kaylyn Sampong was unlucky to be just 0.05 seconds away from the bronze medal in that age group’s 50m Freestyle, having been ranked 14th in her 50m Backstroke. Lucia Day was 6th fastest in the 200m Backstroke after finishing 12th fastest in the 50m Freestyle heats.
Having already achieved eight top ten finishes in her 13 years’ age group, Olivia Piaskowska was unfortunate to miss out on an individual medal with 4th place finishes in the finals of both the 50m Backstroke and Freestyle finals. Violet Rhodes was 6th in the Backstroke final, with Alanna Njawaya 10th fastest in the heats. In the 50m Freestyle heats Alanna was ranked 10th fastest and Violet 13th. Violet was one place higher in her HDW 200m Backstroke in which Thea Slater was 9th fastest.
Alice Buckingham domination of the 12-year’s girls events continued as she brought her individual gold medal to sixteen with victories in the 50m and 200m Backstroke, 200m Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle. Mary Battersby picked up her first individual medal, a silver in the 50m Backstroke, and went on to claim 7th in the HDW 200m Backstroke, after finishing 17th in the 50m Freestyle heats. The final of that sprint event saw Zuzanna 4th and Ella Kolobius 5th with Mary 17th, Inaaya Sampong 15th and Tilly Scrivener 18th. Ella had finished in 4th spot in the 200m Breaststroke, just 0.07 seconds away from the Bronze medal, whilst Zuzanna was 5th in the 200m Backstroke.
In a close finish, the 12/13 years Mixed Medley relay of Alice, Maxim Collinson, Violet Rhodes and Tymoteusz Sikorski held off to claim the bronze medal by 0.26 seconds.
The 10/11 years’ Mixed team of Jaiden Amusa, Leonn Stark, Ruth Biscoe and Sophie Lapucha claimed their bronze medal by an even narrower margin, just 0.11 seconds!
Given their success in the 10/11-year Girls relay events it was perhaps no surprise to see four of the finalists in the individual 50m Freestyle come from Team Luton. Ruth Biscoe won with Emma Battersby 2nd, Sophie Lapucha 3rd and Lucy Biscoe 7th . In the heats Dorothy Gooda was ranked 10th and Bethany Ruston 31st. Ruth Biscoe won two further individual bronze medals from her HDW 200m Backstroke (with Lucy 5th) and 50m Backstroke final. Emma Battersby and Sophie Lapucha both made the 50m final, finishing 6th and 8th. Lucy Biscoe just missed that final, being placed 9th with Dorothy Goods 12th, Freya Strange 35th and Emma Wood 35th.
