Choosing a 50m pool for your first 400m Individual Medley race might seem to be a daunting prospect for any swimmer. Karen MacKenzie, Tom Lambert and Sam Bradley duly rose to the challenge at the South East Masters Long Course Championships.

It’s official. The results are finally confirmed. So massive congratulations to both our Female and Male Masters & Seniors who have achieved their best ever placings in the British Team Decathlon competitions.
The Men’s team finished 9th out of 501 teams, up one position from 2017, to once again be the highest place Men’s club in the East Region.
Our Ladies, who competed in far fewer qualifying races, meanwhile broke into the top 100 for the first time to finish 92nd out of 435 teams. They were the third highest Bedfordshire Masters club, behind South Beds Masters and Flitwick.

Congratulations to Alex Mason and Jj Wilde, both winning three medals in their respective age groups at the Swim Wales Short Course Championships.
At the Masters event held in Newport, Alex, aged 22, won all three of his events in the 18 – 24 years’ age group, the 50m & 100 Breaststroke plus the 200m Backstroke.
In the Boys 13 – 14 years Short Course championships held in Swansea, Jj Wilde swam four huge personal best times, bringing home three Bronze medals.
Away from the national stage, Sam Bradley has collected his first Beds County Masters record. whilst Tom Lambert won all six of his 18 – 24 years’ events at the Etwall Masters meet in Derbyshire, earning valuable points for the Masters & Seniors Team Decathlon competition.
Fantastic results from the 2018 Swim England National Masters & Seniors Championships. We won a total of three Gold, three Silver and four Bronze individual medals, a Relay Silver and set three new Beds County Masters records.
With ages ranging from 22 to 63 years, all ten squad members who competed swam either a lifetime and /or season best times.

Skills Lead Coach, Alex Mason, set a new Beds County 18 – 24 years’ record at the Barnet Masters Distance Meet. Together with Sam Bradley, John O’Rourke, Sonia Bentley and Sharon Thompson, we won 7 Gold, 2 Silver and 7 Bronze medals. Read here for a full report.
Graham Powell came away with four silver medals from the 2018 GB Masters championships in Plymouth. It was a weekend that epitomised the Masters’ spirit of Fitness, Friendship and Fun whilst all of our competitors each came away with at least two Top 5 finishes. Read here for a full report.
