Team Luton Level 1 meets are CANCELLED

March Meet 1ER200051 and April Meet 1ER200055

Please be aware that following the Government’s guidelines on the need for physical distancing we have reluctantly decided that we have to cancel these meets.

Whilst falling short of banning galas, Swim England’s statement last night gives strong guidance on how we should treat galas with swimmers from many clubs. We are clear that we have a moral responsibility to protect swimmers, spectators and volunteers alike.

We appreciate that this decision will be unwelcome by some and so over the last twenty four hours we have evaluated many options to keep the meet going. We  know how many hours swimmers have trained to compete at this level. It is so hard that they won’t have the opportunity to race.

We will be refunding fees for swimmer entry and spectators but please bear with us as we have a lot of urgent admin tasks to wind down ahead of the weekend. The refund process will start early next week.

Once again we are deeply sorry for the decision that we have had to make. We wish swimmers all of the best for the rest of the season – please keep training where you can!!!

Thanks for choosing to enter a Team Luton gala and we hope to see you again soon in happier times

Fiona Walmsley (gala promoter)

UK Government and Swim England issue further guidance on Coronavirus

On 12 March 2020 the Government announced that we were moving from the Contain to the Delay stage of  their action plan for handling the pandemic.

The key change in their guidance is that people should self isolate at home for 7 days if they have a new persistent cough and/or a fever.

We would ask that any swimmers, parents, coaches or friends please follow this guidance during training sessions and also  with respect to attendance at galas.

On 10 March Swim England issued further advice and links to UK Government website. This can be found here

Team Luton training will continue as normal.

Jo’s 200m Freestyle time of  2:21.53 broke the East Region record by 6 seconds whilst her time of 2:47.62 in the 200m Butterfly set new figures for the County’s 40 – 44 years’ age group record. Her 100m splits of 1:20.82 and 1:08.23 were both new Beds records; Jo’s freestyle split breaking the record club mate Kelly Cooke had only set back in January.

Great Success for Team Luton in the 2020 County Championships

This year’s County Championships saw 56 of our swimmers battle it out against the seven other clubs in the County over 3 separate weekends. All of the swimmers excelled during the competition and together they won 146 individual medals, 19 Senior and Junior Championship trophies and 6 relay trophies. In the course of the event 2 swimmers also set new County Records. For the full report please click here.

Congratulations to all of the swimmers who competed – your hard work over many months of training shone through. And huge thanks to the coaching team who prepared all of the swimmers so well.
