April Meet Entries and Schedule

We received a huge number of entries for this meet, so have unfortunately had to make a lot of rejections. The processing statement below explains how this has been done.

There are reserves for the 800/1500 freestyle ONLY.  Please let us know if you do not want to stay on the reserves list.

Refunds are not available for withdrawals, other than for medical reasons.  Please contact galas@teamluton.com if you think something is incorrect.  We will not accept late entries, day of meet entries or updated entry times.

Mike Woodbridge

We were saddened to learn of the death of Mike Woodbridge.  Mike was much loved, admired and respected by several generations of swimmers, parents and coaches at Team Luton and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.

Mike’s funeral will be held at Hitchin crematorium at 4pm on Tuesday 20 March, followed by a wake at Hitchin Priory.

March L1 Entries

Entries for our Level 1 Meet on 24/25 March have now closed and been processed.  Please cheek the accepted entry listing below and advise of any errors for omissions as soon as possible. Times for warm ups and session starts have also been published.

Please encourage your officials to volunteer their services (note, all officials must be licensed).

Late entries, day of meet entries and day of meet alterations will not be accepted, unless due to administrative error.

Looking Out For Our British Swimming Championship Qualifiers….

It’s the British Swimming Championships in Edinburgh this week and the event is being streamed live via british swimming.org. In addition to the top GB swimmers honing themselves for the Commonwealth Games, look out for our home-grown talent.

First off will be Matthew Wright, representing Bath University where he is now in his second year of studies. He goes in the first event on the morning of Thursday 1st March, the 1500m F/s and is back in the pool Friday afternoon for his 400m F/s.

Chantal Smith follows Friday afternoon in her 800m F/s and 24 hours later competes in the 400m F/s.

That same Saturday afternoon (3rd March) Chiara Rogers swims in the 200m Breaststroke; an event for which Celyn Walmsley is the 2nd reserve.

Best of luck to all. We’ll be cheering you either from the spectator gallery or “on-line”.

A Golden Beds County Championships

Some of our 2018 Beds County Competitors

Team Luton finished second to Modernian in the Top Club award at the 2018 Beds County championships – but came top in terms of medals  with us securing 78 Gold, 47 Silver and 35 Bronze medals.

CLUB GOLD SILVER BRONZE TOTAL
TEAM LUTON 78 47 35 160
Modernian 67 71 55 193

With 14 Senior and 11 Junior County titles, plus one new Senior County record being set, it was a hugely successful performance.

In addition to all the medals and titles, from 350 swims across the 2 weekends we came away with 293 personal best times, a staggering  personal best percentage of 84%.

Congratulations to all our swimmers and thanks to our coaches and the parents for your invaluable support and encouragement.

10th Top GB Masters Club in 2017

It’s official! The final results have just been confirmed and Team Luton finished 10th in the 2017 GB Men’s Team Masters Decathlon competition. We were the highest ranked club from the Swim England East Region.

10th in GB: Alex, Graham, Dave & Alastair

Our Ladies also claimed their highest ever position. Read here for a detailed report.

The new year has also got off to a flying start for our Masters with six gold, three silver and one bronze medal at the South East Masters and four new Beds County Masters records for Karen MacKenzie. Read here for all the details.

2018: A New Year Full Of Promise

A review of the latest club swim records shows that over 100 new figures were set in 2017. With Rikki Morris our new Head Coach  now on board we eagerly look forward to the Beds County championships being held 26th – 28th January and 3rd – 4th February at Inspire. Over three dozen of our swimmers are competing, some for the first time at County level. Might we see more records broken to kick start 2018? Good luck to everyone (not forgetting the handful of older swimmers competing in Crawley at the South East Masters).
