Our Ladies Are Vying For Places In GB Team Decathlon

After some impressive performances at Newmarket, as of 20th May, our Ladies are in 59th place out of 293 teams in the GB Women’s Team Decathlon competition. (This interim position has been achieved with just 19 out of a potential maximum 40 qualifying races.). Karen Mackenzie (aged 45), Michelle Neal (38), Sonia Bentley (50)  and Sharon Thompson (51) are our top four Ladies, so far, but Lorraine Sadler (47) and Gwen Skingley (36) are not far behind with their points totals.

To date our top four for the Men’s Team competition are Alastair Gibb (58) Dave Wright (57), John O’Rourke (49) and Malcolm Barton (62). The Men are in 23rd place, having competed so far in 31 qualifying races. (The results of the EDSC Masters Meet last weekend, where Alastair, John and Malcolm had the “pleasure” of a heat of the 400IM all to themselves have yet to be included.)

The club’s position in both team competitions will undoubtedly change following swims this weekend at the Midland Masters and then the GB Masters down in Plymouth next month.
